Jorge Ortiz, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers University where he directs the Cyber-Physical Intelligence Lab (CyPhy-Lab) and is where he is also a member of the Wireless Information Network Laboratory (WINLAB). His work focuses on building and studying sensing systems that learn from and work with humans. These include a broad range of sensing systems including smart objects, intelligent built environments, and smart cities. Previously, he was a Research Staff Member at IBM Research working on machine learning and the internet of things. Dr. Ortiz attained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 2013, M.S. in Computer Science from Berkeley in 2010, and a BS in Computer Science from MIT in 2003.
