Estimation of Energy Savings from the NJ Weatherization Assistance Program

This research calculates the estimated savings attributable to the Weatherization Assistance Program for Triennium 2, which covers July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2027.

The Clean Energy Act of 2018 set goals to reduce electricity consumption by 2% per year and natural gas consumption by 0.75% per year. These savings are achieved both through the utility and state Energy Efficiency Programs.

To support the calculation of energy savings attributable to the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), this study uses data from New Jersey’s Department of Community Affairs and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The resulting savings are included in the portion of the State’s electricity and natural gas savings goals for which the State of New Jersey is responsible.
