Lead Safe Housing Registry Project

From 2008 to 2015, EAC worked with the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to develop a web-based mapping application that identified the lead-based paint condition of housing in New Jersey.  In 2007 DCA identified a need to replace its large, hard to use pdf document with an interactive web-based tool.  The web-based mapping application went live and available to the public on August 24, 2010 and identified over 300,000 housing units across the state.  Housing units listed on the Registry had either been built after December 31, 1977, and were deemed lead free, or had undergone abatement treatments to control or eliminate lead-based paint hazards.  The four categories that were captured with all housing listed on the registry included Lead Free, Lead Abated, Lead Free Interior, and Lead Hazard Controlled properties.  The map used a Google base map that enabled the user to better visualize the surrounding neighborhood.
