Michael Beacher

Michael Beacher is a post-qualifying PhD student in the Rutgers Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering. He has been with the department since 2019, having received his M.S. in 2023 with a concentration in Systems Analytics. He completed his B.S. in Applied Mathematics & Statistics at Stony Brook University in 2018 with minors in Pure Mathematics and Jazz.

Michael’s research focuses on Generation Expansion Planning models with efforts to mitigate negative externalities, specifically carbon emissions and human health effects. His work in this area is in collaboration with the Rutgers Center for Green Building as a BPU Energy Fellow, as well as with the Rutgers Office of Climate Action. Michael also has a research relationship with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, focusing on the modeling of atmospheric radio noise and applied distributed systems optimization.
