Yousaf Shahid, a Public Informatics graduate student at Rutgers University, transitioned from a background in Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, Pakistan, to a career focused on energy systems.
As a BPU fellow at Rutgers Center for Urban Policy Research, Yousaf is deeply involved in energy modeling and cost-benefit analysis for beneficial electrification and building code amendments in New Jersey. His work extends to part-load analysis for improving the energy performance of the state’s building stock.
Yousaf aspires to deepen his expertise in energy sustainability, smart grid technologies, and the implementation of eco-friendly energy policies. His goal is to influence positive change through data-driven decision-making and innovative policy development, ensuring a sustainable and resilient energy future. Outside of work and school, Yousaf love to meet friends, travel to explore and enjoys cooking food.
