Dr. Sorensen Allacci is the Director of Projects for Environmental Health, Knowledge, & Action, Inc, and former Research Project Coordinator for the Rutgers Center for Green Building (RCGB) at the Edward J. Bloustein School for Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University. She has a PhD from CUNY’s Environmental Psychology Program and specializes in community based collaborative research and engagement with organizations and diverse groups including low income, ethnic minority communities, and individuals with disabilities. Her work has emphasized the role of participatory research design and practice for effectively engaging community stakeholder groups and has applied post-occupancy evaluation work and evidence-based design guidelines to community, educational, housing, and office environment research. Her particular interests include reducing community exposures that threaten environmental health, analysis of human health effects of supply chain processes, and identifying environmental justice concerns in housing and community contexts. Dr. Sorensen Allacci teaches at Tandon School of Engineering, NYU, and the NY School of Interior Design.
