Vanessa Tropiano

Research Project Manager

Vanessa Tropiano is a Research Project Manager for the Environmental Analysis and Communications Group (EAC) at the Rutgers University Bloustein School of Planning. She specializes in outreach and training related to climate change resilience, coastal hazards, and watershed management. Vanessa leads stakeholder engagement for a collaborative project with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to support statewide watershed planning and programs. Vanessa also contributes to ongoing development of the NJADAPT suite of online tools. Prior to joining the EAC in 2022, Vanessa served as the Coastal Training Program Coordinator at the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve, leading stakeholder engagement on a broad portfolio of projects focused on coastal planning, resilience, risk communications, and watershed management. Previously, she worked for the NJ Department of Environmental Protection where she helped develop the NJ Climate Change Resilience Strategy and led communications and outreach at the Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience. She is a 2010 alumnus of Rowan University and has a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Ecology from University of Florida.
