Brayden Donnelly, a rising junior at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, has immersed himself in the Raritan River Water Trail Project through the 4-credit Raritan Scholar internship program taught by Cook College professor Daniel Van Abs. Working with Lauren Theis, Raritan Headwaters Association’s director of education, the 21-year-old Freehold resident picked up on work started years ago by volunteers with the South Branch Watershed Association to compile a map of the waterway’s best paddling routes, along with their put-in and take-out points, between Clinton and its confluence with the North Branch. When work is completed, which he expects will be by the end of the 2015-16 school year, the public will have access to a brochure highlighting the best recreational spots along the South Branch.  In the meanwhile, you can follow this link to the interactive water trail map to view the map and see the videos of the access points.  For more information, contact Lauren Theis, Raritan Headwaters Association at 908-234-1852, ext. 314.
