Successful Rain Garden Demonstration Project in Somerville

News | Resilience | Water Quality

In October, staff from NJWSA, Rutgers Water Resources Program, and the Leadership Somerset Class of 2014 installed three rain gardens at the Carol Pager Sports Complex / Exchange Field in Somerville. The Leadership Somerset Program Fellows spearheaded this effort, which was supported and assisted by Somerset County Parks Commission, Somerville Borough, Somerville Environmental Commission, Somerville Recreation Commission, and Somerville Department of Public Works. The rain gardens collect water from Green Street, keeping polluted water from the road out of the Peters Brook. The Program Fellows held an unveiling event on November 17th. Visit the Leadership Somerset Rain Garden page for photos and updates on the rain gardens!  Thank you to all of the partners that made this demonstration project a success!
